Incorporated in 1996, the Wired Woman Society (WWS) is a Canadian, registered non-profit society. The society's mission is to create an open environment that encourages women to explore opportunities in technology and to provide the tools to build successful careers that will allow them to play a positive role in the growth and development of the information age.

Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS): Women in IT - www.cips.ca/it/women/

Every year on International Women's Week, Information Technology (IT) Week and weeks prior, special Women in IT events are held across the country. Approximately 3,000 thirteen- to fifteen-year-old girls participate. The CIPS Women in IT program receives numerous media attention on TV, radio, and various business/technology and women’s publications. Girls and teachers in attendance at the Women in IT events have indicated that they are pleased that CIPS is providing an opportunity for students to explore career options in IT.

ACTEW CAP Network – www.actew.org/cap/sites

Through Industry Canada's Community Access Program (CAP), ACTEW has formed a network of CAP sites at 11 of our member agencies in the Greater Toronto Area. Ten sites have been operating for two years, providing free public Internet access to more than 2,400 combined visitors per month. Additional sites were recently approved and have been open since spring 2002. Each CAP site offers a variety of services to help clients use the Internet effectively.

The E-Quality Project supports the integration of ICT in women's equality work, promotes the visibility of women's equality work and Canadian women's organizations online, and works collaboratively with Canadian women's equality organizations to participate in and assess the gender implications of federal government ICT initiatives.

Microskills Women Technology Institute (WTI) - www.microskills.ca/wti.html

WTI is an education service of MicroSkills established in 1999 to offer women comprehensive skills training and support services to improve their employment opportunities within the Information, Telecommunication and Technology sector. It is Toronto's first all women's technology institute that addresses the well-documented absence of women from careers in this growth sector. As such, it prepares women for industry-recognized careers within the high demand Information Technology (IT) & Telecommunication (T) sector.

FutureSmart is a unique 45-week training program that focuses on the software, media and information technology skills required by successful Technical Office Professionals. Dixon Hall provides the trainees with internships, mentors and job search assistance toward the achievement of fulfilling, sustainable employment.

The FutureSmart program is delivered in partnership with Centennial College's Centre for Creative Communications. FutureSmart is funded by the Ontario Women's Directorate through the Province of Ontario Ministry of Citizenship.
