1. Students are expected to attend all classes, unless you are ill. If you are ill, make arrangements with another class member to collect any handouts and to tell you about the class discussions, and topics covered.
2. Students are expected to complete their assignments on time. Marks will be deducted for late assignments. In identified cases, late assignments will not be accepted.
3. Students are expected to complete the assigned readings and to engage in critical discussion of them in class.
4. We will spend considerable time in small and large group discussion which requires good listening skills, monitoring of your "air time," not interrupting others and encouraging others to participate and ask questions.
5. The aim of the class is to be a place respect for difference and disagreement. It is fine to critique or challenge one anothers ideas but it is unacceptable to attack a persons character or motives. The ideal we will strive for is to produce a culture of democratic dissent and difference.
