The short description:
This course examines recent feminist debates in education, in part influenced by cultural studies, concerning how young and adult women are constructed in educational and popular cultural contexts, and, in turn, how they construct themselves as social subjects in and outside of schooling/education. A central aim of the course will be to understand how young and adult women, variously located by class, "race," sexuality, age, and nation make sense of the broader popular cultural contexts and texts of their formal education/schooling.
